Douglas was born on December 21, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Roberts) Currier.

He graduated from Rogers High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1972.

Doug’s love of music started at an early age with the purchase of his first guitar. As a young teen, he played with many prominent orchestras in the Toledo, Ohio and Detroit area. At his high school graduation celebration, a bus pulled up and Doug left to tour as a professional road musician. He toured and performed with many national recording artists across the country. Doug finished his concert tour playing at the Iowa State Fair. His love for the state brought him to call Iowa his home.

He was married in 1978 in Toledo, Ohio to Janie Adams. They resided in What Cheer, Iowa, raising three children, Jordan, Angie and Allen. Doug and Janie owned and operated Art’s TV & Appliance in Oskaloosa. They were later divorced. Doug continued playing guitar and singing in regional bands throughout Iowa.

Doug went to work for GTE Telephone Company in July of 1987, which eventually became Windstream Communications.

A mutual love of music brought Doug and Cathy Campbell together in 1999. They were married on July 11, 2003, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama and made their home in Toledo, Iowa. Together they operated Cat Trax Productions, providing professional sound production at concerts and venues across the Midwest. Doug also continued working full time at Windstream until his cancer diagnosis in August of 2020. Doug was a man of integrity and loved to have a good time. He enjoyed having friends over to HIS garage “Man Fort” and the doors were always open. He loved to “jam” with his buddies on Tuesday nights. Doug had a very analytical mind when dealing with electronics and sound. He was everybody’s neighbor and friend and always willing to lend a hand.
