Alfred “Dave” was born on May 22, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Alfred Phil and Gertrude (Clark) Timm.

He graduated from Tama High School in 1960. When he was eighteen, he attended body shop school in Denver, Colorado, and returned home when he was twenty-one.

On August 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to Joleen Konicek at the St. John Lutheran Church. Dave farmed, establishing Timm family farms in 1968. He also had a body shop on the farm starting in the early 70’s called Timm’s Hilltop. Prior to that, he worked at East Side Body Shop in Marshalltown and the Ford Garage in Toledo for Hershel Weinder.

Dave was a lifetime member of the St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama. Dave and Joleen took care of the Maple Grove Cemetery for many years. He was an avid Cyclone football and basketball fan. Dave was a former fastpitch softball pitcher for Larry’s Feeds team in the Tama-Toledo Softball League, going to the state tournament. He loved other sports, including bowling, baseball, and boxing. Dave was always busy and hard work was his thing, although he didn’t consider it work. His passion was IH Red tractors and he collected the 1/16 scale miniatures as well. His greatest joy was his time spent and sharing his skills with his family.
