Debra Burnes

Debra Kay Burnes, 64, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her home in Toledo. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021, 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Debra was born on March 3, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Joanne (Vesely) Yuska.

She graduated from South Tama County High School in 1975.

On February 17, 1990, she was united in marriage to Rick Burnes in Tama. Deb was employed by the Tama County Sheriff’s office for over forty-years, making many friends along the way. Deb enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons and great-grandbabies. She was a great wife, mother, and grandma, and friend to all. All that knew her, knew her for her strength and kindness. Deb was also known as a great listener.

Survivors include her husband, Rick of Toledo; her daughter, Amy (Brian) Doyle of Tama; three grandsons, Dalton (Macey) Doyle, Kadyn (Jordyn) Doyle and Bostyn Doyle, all of Tama; her great-grandbabies, Brextyn, Daxtyn, Koltsyn, and Kamari Doyle; brothers, Doug (Connie) Yuska, Dale (Bernice) Yuska of Toledo and Danny (Jannae) Yuska all of Toledo; her nieces and nephews; her sisters and brothers- in-law, Cheryl Kupka of Tama; Ron (Ronda) Burnes of Tama, Randy (Renee) Burnes of Marshalltown, and Ray (Jenni) Burnes of Huxley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her father and mother-in-law, Dick and Bert Burnes.
