Duane D. Riha, 80, Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully in his home on October, 4, 2021.
Duane was born on September 24, 1941 in Chelsea, Iowa to Fred and Mildred (Herink) Riha. He graduated from Tama High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He returned to Iowa for a short time before making his home in Overland Park, Kansas. Duane worked as a Sales Professional in the Consumer Electronics and Quartz Crystal industries. He was re-married in1969 to his wife Myrna and they retired in Myrtle Beach, SC. where he had many friends. In 2018, they moved to Raleigh to be closer to his daughter.
One of Duane’s greatest accomplishments was being a father where he passed on his many gifts; a sense of humor, a sense of adventure, a love of travel and fine dining, golfing, and most importantly living each day to the fullest. He freely offered business advice to Cathy which will be greatly missed.
Duane is survived by his daughter Cathy (Chuck) Alvis of Raleigh, NC; his sister Marcella (Frank) Nekola of Toledo, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Gigi. Duane was predeceased by his wife Myrna and his parents.
At Duane’s request, a Graveside Memorial Service will be held on October 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The National Cemetery in Vining, Ia.
