Marcia Shults

Marcia Shults, 69, of Grinnell, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Victor, Iowa.

Sharing of Memories for family and close friends will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 1 pm – 3 pm at The Pub, located on 4th and State Street, in Grinnell. Memorials in Marcia’s name may be sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, Iowa 50112, to benefit several organizations.

Marcia was born to Merle and Margaret (McGarry) Pope on January 11, 1952, at St. Francis Hospital in Grinnell. She graduated from HLV Community High School. Marcia then went to Paris Beauty Academy in Davenport. For 50 years she was a beautician and loved her clients. Marcia was united in marriage to James Shults on October 6, 1989, in Grinnell, Iowa.

Most would describe Marcia as generous, fun loving and having an upbeat personality. She always said what was on her mind and was definitely one of a kind. Jim and Marcia were avid campers, loved being out in nature, watching for cardinals, and the company of others. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed socializing, with her favorite beverage in hand. Marcia was a member of the Grinnell Lady Elks Club.

Marcia will be missed by her husband, Jim, of Grinnell; her three sisters, Jean (John) Gryp and Joan (Gary) Schafbuch, all of Victor and Mary Ellen Kriegel of Toledo; many nieces and nephews; her dog, Missy and her cat, Mariah; as well as many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Raymond Kriegel and two dogs, Chester and Sassy.
