Dale Henle

Dale William Henle, 93, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael McAndrew as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at the church.

Dale was born on December 13, 1927, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Francis G. and Nettie (Gettis) Henle.

Dale served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He attended Toledo High School and then completed his GED as an adult.

On June 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Fraker at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Dale had owned Henle Pump Service. He was also part owner of Gary Feed Store and farmed. He previously worked for Poweshiek Water, Spahn & Rose, Hardons, City of Toledo, and part time as a police officer. Dale volunteered on the Toledo Ambulance and Fire Department. For many years, Dale helped as a funeral assistant for Henderson-Overton Funeral Home and then Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Dale was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was involved in the Knights of Columbus as well as other committees, and the American Legion. Dale was an avid Cribbage player and loved woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Rodney (Patty) Henle of Toledo; daughter-in-law, Debby Henle of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Susan (Jim) May of Newnan, GA, Scott Henle of Iowa Falls, Jill Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Alison Henle (Kelly Jensen) of Toledo, and Aaron (Whitney) Henle of Manhattan, KS; ten great-grandchildren, Frank, Mavis, Will, Ashtyn, Kinley, Berkley, Josh, Amber, Cassidy and Syndey; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Shirley in 2015; son, Ronald William and infant son, Dennis Dale; siblings, Wayne, George, Veril and Horace “Pat” Henle, Marcella Osterberger, Claras Kriegel, Teresa Kriegel, Ellen Olsen, Barbara Metz, and Imelda Roth.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice.
