TAMA-Gordon M. Blocker, 85, of Tama, passed away, Sunday, July 18, 2021 at UnityPoint Health/Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. The service will be live streamed on Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page.

Gordon was born on June 9, 1936, in Vining, Iowa, the son of Melvin V. and Tena (Balvin) Blocker.

He graduated from Tama High School in 1955.

Gordon served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Gordon was married to Shirley Hanus and together they had three children. They later divorced. Gordon worked as a Materials Handler for Lennox in Marshalltown from 1963-2000. He was very dedicated to his career, missing only a few days over the years. Gordon previously enjoyed golfing, bowling, and softball. Gordon was an avid supporter of his grandchildren’s activities. He was always involved in and enjoyed sports and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors include his children, Kim Blocker (Mike Tomas) of Tama, LeAnn (Bryan) Hoeg of Grundy Center, and Steve (Kris) Blocker of State Center; five grandchildren, Kayla (Zach) Carr, Kyle Blocker (Abby Kolarik), Karisa (Conley) Petermeier, Tanner and Brylee Hoeg; two great-grandchildren, Barrett Blocker and Tenley Carr; twelve siblings, Patsy Seymour, Jim (Audrey) Blocker, Jeanette Genson, Deloris Baughman, David (Nancy) Blocker, Keith (Rita) Blocker, Kenneth (Bev) Blocker, Larry (Bev) Blocker, LeRoy (Connie) Blocker, William (Chris) Blocker, Eugene (Mary) Blocker, and Darrell Blocker; his sister-in-law, Debbie Blocker; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Melvin P. Blocker; brothers-in-law, Frank Seymour, Gary Baughman and Wes Genson; and sister-in-law, Siretta Blocker.

A memorial fund will be established.
