Mary Susan Anderson

TAMA-Mary Susan Anderson, 82, of Tama, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Greg Bahl officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

Mary Susan Anderson was born on February 17, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Dugan) Gifford.

She graduated from Tama High School in 1956 and attended Nursing School at St. Mary’s in Marshalltown.

On November 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to Joe Anderson at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Mary Susan was formerly a nurse at the University of Iowa, Marshalltown Medical Hospital, and Wilson’s Nursing Home. She was also a Teacher’s Aid for several years as well as a School Bus Monitor. Mary Susan was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She enjoyed knitting, reading books, and attending many softball and baseball games over the years.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Joe of Tama; one son, Tom (Shele) Anderson of Tama; three grandchildren, Megan (Rob) Secor of Fort Dodge, Ben Trepp (Claire Gilbert) of Darien, IL, and Kaytlin (Travis) Briney of Charlotte, NC; five great-grandchildren, Cora and Ira Secor, Theodore Trepp, Lyam and Emersyn Briney.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.
