Suzanne Mohrfeld

Suzanne Kay Mohrfeld, 78, of Tama, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30 AM St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Greg Bahl as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. It is recommended that everyone attending wear a mask and social distancing should be practiced as well.

Suzanne was born on February 15, 1943, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Ludwig and Helen (Hrstka) Herink.

She graduated from Tama High School.

On November 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to George Mohrfeld Jr. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Suzanne had been employed at the STC High School kitchen, Fareway, the kitchen at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, Casey’s, and she also sold Avon. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she attended grade school and was involved in CCW. Suzanne taught ceramic classes in her basement for many years. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and liked reading. Suzanne also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed watching the Cubs play.

Survivors include her husband George of Tama; her children, Richard “Rick” Mohrfeld of Toledo, Kerry (Christine) Mohrfeld of Urbandale, Jason (Shannon) Mohrfeld of Lisbon, and Jan (Earl “Buzz”) Murty of Fountain City, WI; her grandchildren, Kylee and Braeden Mohrfeld, Keegan Mohrfeld, Peyton (Regan) Sanford, Jensen, Ryne, and Brennen Mohrfeld, Tate and Allison Murty; three sisters, Geraldine (Marlin) Wiese of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl (Dr. L. Travis) Smith of Lutz, FL, and Karla (Warren) Marchant of Tifton, GA; sister-in-law, Margie Mohrfeld of North Charleston, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents. A memorial fund will be established.
