Eugene was born on December 8, 1952 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Emil and Blanche (Brezina) Cibula.

He graduated from South Tama High School in 1971.

Gene served his country in the U.S. Army from June 1972 until June 1975.

On July 21, 1973, he married the love of his life, Mary Boriskey at the Montour Methodist Church. Eugene was proud of his career at Lennox as a machinist, retiring in December of 2018. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, where he was a member of the Men’s Group, Date Night and Knights of Columbus, which he truly enjoyed. Gene spent his childhood years on a farm in Vining. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and loved the beautiful bounty of the earth and destinations traveling near and far. Gene also enjoyed playing cards, but his greatest joy was when he was able to spend time with his beloved family and friends. Gene was a faithful servant to Jesus.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Mary of Toledo; two children, John Cibula and Jill Cibula Taylor; three grandchildren; one sister, Delores (Charlie) Vesely; sisters-in-law, Jolene Cibula and Ann (Wayne) Neville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Marvin Cibula; and one nephew, Jeff Vesely.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a special project.
