Michael J. "Mike" Doyle

Michael J. “Mike” Doyle, 77, of rural Gilman and Grinnell, passed away, Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Grinnell, Iowa. A Private Family Service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 with Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.

Michael Joseph Doyle was born on June 3, 1943, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Robert F. and Edna (Hagge) Doyle.

Michael attended Star rural school and graduated from South Tama County Community School in 1961.

He was united in marriage to Joleen A. Weir on February 15, 1969 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They then settled into farming on their farm in southern Tama County. Michael had a passion for farming and a devotion to the land he farmed. He was still actively engaged in farming until he passed. He will forever be remembered for the guidance and influence he had on many lives, especially his family. Throughout the years, he was a 4-H leader and a State Bank of Toledo Director.

Mike loved farming, driving the country roads and checking crops. He went to many grandchildren activities and enjoyed visits to Werner’s Elevator. Family trips to Florida always brought a smile to his face.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Joleen of Grinnell; his children, Timothy (Kira) of Chelsea, Brian (Amy) of Tama, Julie (Micheal) Thede of Toledo, and Nicole (Todd) Upah of Toledo. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their families, Brandon (Emily) Doyle, Mahala (Tyler) Casady, Dalton (Macey) Doyle, Kadyn (Jordyn) Doyle and Bostyn Doyle, Mitchell Thede and Mallory Thede, and Wes, Laurel, and Natalie Upah; four great-grandchildren, Brextyn, Daxtyn, Koltsyn, and Kamari Doyle; two brothers, Adrian Doyle, and Thomas (Mary) Doyle; three brothers-in-law, Bruce (Jackie) Weir, Rod (Angie) Weir, and Randall Rosenfelder.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters-in-law, Charlene Rosenfelder and Marlene Doyle.

A memorial fund will be established.
