Phyllis Wallace

Phyllis Wallace, 84, of Tama, Iowa, passed away on the morning of December 24, 2020, at The Willows of Marshalltown.

Services for Phyllis will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A public visitation will be held for family and friends one hour before start of services. Services will be available to view on the Mitchell Family Funeral Home Facebook page. Phyllis Maryann Low was born November 11, 1936 to parents Wade and Margaret (Kriegel) Low in Tama, Iowa. She was one of six children. Phyllis attended school in Tama where she grew up.

On March 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Wallace, in Grinnell, Iowa. They called Marshalltown home where they raised four children together. Phyllis worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown as a machinist. She began her career in 1965 and worked for the company for 33 years retiring in 1998.

In her free time, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. They would come every weekend to visit her. She also enjoyed sewing and her embroidery work and quilting projects for her family. She was a great cook and loved to spend time in her vegetable gardens.

Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Mike Wallace, Brenda Lukehart, Patty (Bryon) Bessman and Carolyn (Scott) Adkins; her grandchildren, Ashley Wallace, Krista (Josh) Wallace, Benjamin (Lynna) Lukehart, Stephanie (Jason) Mirault, Melissa Lukehart, Bill Cochenour, John (Taryn) Cochenour, Jay Bessman, Josh (Angie) Adkins, Jeremy (Felecity) Adkins, Jesse (Brooke) Adkins; her great-grandchildren, Payton Mirault, Dakota Mirault, Emri Flathers, Ezra Adkins, Evan Adkins, Kylie Adkins, Keygan Brown, Kage Adkins, Kaden Adkins, Kacin Adkins, Kota Adkins and Kole Adkins; alongside her siblings, Delorus Keys and Sharon Judge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Wallace; her parents Wade and Margaret Low; her siblings, Marvin “Bud” Low, George Lowe, Darlene Balvin; and her granddaughter Ashley Wallace.
