Ellsworth Youngbear Sr. "Ne na e ska ka"

MARSHALLTOWN- Ellsworth Youngbear Sr. “Ne na e ska ka”, 72, of Marshalltown, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at UnityPoint-Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Wake was held Friday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.

Ellsworth was born on October 31, 1948, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Curtis and Josephine Mitchell Youngbear.

He attended Sac & Fox Day School and attended Tama High School. He also had an AA degree.

He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Ellsworth worked in the construction trade. He liked to do crosswords and ride his bike.

Survivors include his daughter, Holly YoungBear-Schrock (Jeff ) of Toledo; grandchildren, Joel YoungBear, Matthew Willow, Surrell YoungBear, Francine YoungBear, Ellsworth YoungBear III, Josephine YoungBear, Zandra YoungBear, Maxamillian (Hsawahwah) YoungBear, Kordell Schrock, Athena Schrock, Kalem Schrock; great grandkids, Artemis Garcia, Amadeus Garcia, Elena Bear, Teiya YoungBear, Adriel YoungBear, Navy YoungBear, Azriel YoungBear, Phoenix YoungBear, Paisley Red Willow, Hazel Red Willow; sisters, Judith Bender of Tama, Donna Wolf of Tama and Robin (Luke) Kapayou of Toledo, Karlene (Arleigh) Armajo of Ethete, WY, Lynn Morgan of Tama, and Staphne Whitebreast of Tama; brothers, Jon Youngbear of Cedar Rapids and Darrel Wanatee of Tama; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sons, Ellsworth Youngbear Jr. and Murray Youngbear; brothers, Richard, Curtis Jr., Calvin, and Victor Youngbear; sisters, Wanda and Juanita Youngbear; and adopted brother, Richard Poweshiek.
