Esmeralda "Ezzy" Baeza

TOLEDO-Esmeralda “Ezzy” Baeza, 43, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at her home under the care of her family and UnityPoint Hospice-Grinnell. There will be no public services at this time.

Esmeralda was born on December 12, 1977, in Elko, NV, the daughter of Cesario and Eva (Torreo) Gonzalez.

In 2005, she married Jose Baeza in Toledo, Iowa. Ezzy worked at the Meskwaki Casino for twenty years. She enjoyed dealing poker, playing UNO and other card games. Ezzy always looked nice by having her hair, nails and make-up done. She really loved her truck and enjoyed listening to music, dancing and cooking, especially her beans. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jose of Toledo; two daughters, Jade Baeza of Ankeny, and Alexes Baeza of Toledo; her mother, Eva Gonzalez of Tama; two brothers, Christian Gonzalez and Cesar Gonzalez both of Toledo; two sisters, Amber Gonzalez and Michelle Gonzalez both of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; an infant son at birth, Jared Baeza; and one brother, Leonicio Gonzalez.
