Janet Marie Hoskey Kvidera

Janet Marie Hoskey Kvidera, 90, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama of natural causes. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama with Father Dennis Conway officiating. Janet was born on May 4, 1930, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Lee and Ethel Marie (Webb) Hoskey.

She attended country school at Indian Village #4 and Montour High School graduating in 1947. Janet then went to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

On December 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Edward Kvidera in Marshalltown, Iowa. Janet taught at VanCleve Consolidated School in Marshall County, Otter Creek School in rural Toledo, North Tama School in Traer, St. Patrick’s Parochial School in Tama, and South Tama School in Tama. She later worked as the Director of the Toledo Public Library.

Janet was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama where she was active in CCW and held all offices, served as Director for the Toledo District in Business of Professional Women, State Teachers Association, and the State Library Association. She had a love for books and researching family genealogy. Janet and Richard operated a Camping Trailer Rental and Sales Business on the farm, originating the trade name “RiChera”. They then owned and operated the Toledo A & W Drive-In for eight years. While operating the A & W, they designed and built an outdoor roller rink, located directly behind the drive-in. They enjoyed traveling, especially camping and visiting the National Parks. They attended the Iowa State Fair nearly every year and also camped there.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra M. (James C.) Lacina of Tama, and Laura K. (Jason L.) Stark of Lakeside, CA; two grandchildren, Matthew (Elizabeth) Lacina, and Kristen (Nathan) Donald; four great-grandchildren, Maisie and Bryce Lacina, Will and Ernie Donald.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Richard in 2018.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama or the Toledo Library.
