Maureen Moffett

Maureen Moffett, age 93, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, September 7th, 2020 at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation in Marshalltown.  A graveside funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 16th  at 11:00 A.M. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Maureen and her loved ones.  A memorial fund is being established.  For additional questions or condolences, please visit  www.mitchellfh.com  or call 641-844-1234.

Maureen was born October 23, 1926 in rural Tama County to parents Murry and Elva Ellen (Slingluff) Moffett on the family farm near Montour.  She attended country school and then graduated high school in Montour.   She went on to attend the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.  Maureen was in the workforce for 68 years.  She worked for the Veterans Administration (Des Moines), Bureau of Reclamation (Denver CO) , Fitzsimons Army Hospital (Denver  Co)  Rohrer, Hibler & Replogle (San Francisco CA) Marshall Printing Co (Marshalltown), Great Plaines Bag Corp (Des Moines) Marshalltown Instruments Inc (Marshalltown).  Maureen made the decision to stop working for a year as she was needed at home to care for her ailing mother until her death.  When Maureen rejoined the workforce she spent the last 29 years of her career working  for SATUCI (Marshalltown).  She retired in 2014.  Besides her professional career Maureen loved to garden and help her brothers on the family farm.

Left to cherish her memory: are 4 Nephews – Sid & Sherry Burns – Nevada, Joel & Shirley Moffett – Texas, Kenny & Barb Moffett – Minnesota, Bruce & Josie Moffett – Texas, and 1 Niece – Sheila Hill – Texas.  Also good friends – Skip & Rose Ridout – Montour.

Maureen is preceded in death by her parents, Murry and Elva and her siblings: Kenneth, Francis Ellen, Calvin and Murry Moffett Jr.
