Sue Sturtz

Sue Sturtz, 84, of Tama, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on the afternoon of September 5, 2020.

Sue Carole Tode was born July 13, 1936 to parents Erville and Meda (Trimble) Tode in Tama, Iowa. She attended Tama High School where she would graduate as part of the class of 1954. Sue continued her education in Des Moines and receiver her business degree. Later in life she would take classes to become an EMT for the City of Tama.

Over her career, Sue worked various secretarial positions at Morris and Anderson Law Firm, the Grinnell Hospital, Iowa Veteran’s home in Marshalltown and as a dental secretary in Marshalltown. In her spare time, Sue was a volunteer EMT serving with EMT-A in Tama, Iowa. She was a loving mother of two children Marty and Marcia.

In her free time, she loved attending her coffee club with her ladies. She was an avid flower gardener and made all of her flower beds at home in the best possible way. She loved her dog Abby and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom they called her “Poccah,” and she enjoyed reading her books.

Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Marty Sturtz and Marcia Sawdey; her grandchildren, Jason (Jaymie), Pamela, Daniel, Bryant and Micaela (Jacob); her great-grandchildren, Ava, Levi, Josie, Jill, Julie, Braiden, Emma, Mayley and one more on the way; her siblings Bruce (Shirley) Tode and Denise (Curtis) Lewis; and her four legged furry companion Abby.

She was preceded in death by her parents Erville and Meda Tode; her step-mother Glada (Davis) Tode; her brother Wynn (Jeni) Tode; and her grandparents.
