Lester Gebhardt

TOLEDO-Lester Edward Gebhardt, 73, of Toledo, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at Premier Estates of Toledo. Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 from 2:30-3:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Graveside services and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. The family encourages Iowa Hawkeye attire be worn. It is recommended that everyone attending wear a mask and social distancing should be practiced as well.

Lester was born on September 6, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Freddie and Bev (See) Gebhardt.

He graduated from South Tama in 1964 and Marshalltown Community College in 1996. Lester worked for Horak Chevrolet in Toledo, owned and operated the Town Pump, and Gebhardt Pontiac & Buick both in Tama and then managed Rube’s Steak House in Montour and the Tama-Toledo Country Club. Lester was a big Hawkeye fan and devout member of the I Club. He was also a big collector of various things.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Ann (Gene) Lacina of Tama; step-daughter, Jessica (Brent) Wilkerson of Tama; and their daughter, Mia; two nieces; one nephew; one great niece; and four great nephews. “Buster” had a very special friend that came to visit him, Jak.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
