William “Bill” Perkins

William “Bill” Perkins, age 69, of Flat Rock, NC, formerly of Grinnell and Le Grand, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.
Funeral services for Bill will take place on Monday, July 27 at 10:00 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, followed by burial at Strand Lutheran Cemetery at Dunbar with full military honors. A visitation will take place on Sunday, July 26 at 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established by the family. Born William Lee Perkins on April 29, 1951 in Grinnell, IA, he was the son of Glenn and Isabelle (Tingley) Perkins. Not long after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time of service, he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War.
After leaving the service, he moved to Dunbar, IA. Bill had worked at the Meskwaki Casino in Tama in the security department and was very well-respected. He had a special relationship with the Meskwaki family, who entrusted him to assist in guiding the construction, finances and security of the casino and property from the beginning.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters Shirley (Hollywood) Warthen of Marshalltown and Kathy Price of Flat Rock, NC and numerous nieces and nephews that loved him very much.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Isabelle and his sister, Judy Elliot.
