Phyllis M. Randall

Long time Toledo resident Phyllis Randall died peacefully at the age of 95 at Sunny Hill Care Center, Tama on June 2, 2020.

Phyllis Maxine Randall was born October 13, 1924 at Collins, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ila Fleming Weese. Raised in Iowa, she graduated from Guernsey High School in 1942.

On June 5, 1942 Phyllis married Marvin Merck, of Guernsey. Born to this union was daughter Janet. They later divorced.

While working in Des Moines, Phyllis met and married Clarence L. Randall Jr. on June 16, 1947 in Olathe, Kansas.

Phyllis was a stay-at -home mother until her children had all entered school. She began working at the State Bank of Toledo as a teller in the early 1960’s and continued her employment there for over 20 years, retiring as a branch manager. She is well remembered for her friendly service all those many years.

Phyllis was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Toledo and enjoyed church activities.

She was a proud mother of four children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and her greatest love was her family.

In her later years Phyllis was an avid Bingo player. She claimed it kept her mind sharp and that is how she celebrated her 90th birthday.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Clarence in 2004, her grandson Travis Curphy, a brother Glenn Weese and a sister Barbara Avery.

Phyllis is survived by her four children, Janet Merck, Tama, Nancy Randall Sund and Merry Randall, Toledo, and Steven Randall, Lake Tahoe, California and grandchildren, Jill (Matt Green) Lust, Julie (Tim) Eppler, Brian Sund, Josh (Jill) Curphy, Jake Randall and Adam Randall and great-grandchildren Jai Lust, Mabel Eppler, Abilene and Gavin Curphy, Parker, Rory and Alex Sund.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
