Tonda Sue (Stull) Swanson

Tonda Sue (Stull) Swanson, 58, of Toledo, formerly of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Unity Point Health, Marshalltown due to heart problems.

Tonda was born November 27, 1961 to Charles and Phillis (Smith) Stull in Marengo, IA. She attended Belle Plaine High School. Following school, Tonda married Michael Swanson in Belle Plaine on April 5, 1981. Together they lived in Belle Plaine, before moving to Toledo, where Tonda worked at the Trojan Inn for 20 years until she took early retirement.

She enjoyed NASCAR, the Kansas City Chiefs, and most of all spending time with her family, the grandchildren and sisters topping the list.

Tonda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Michael of Toledo; children, Chris (Katie) Swanson, Davey (Christina) Swanson both of Shenandoah, Tabitha (Leo) Sanchez of Tama and Amanda (Jesse) Thill of Rhodes; grandchildren, Shayle, Blake, Travis, Kaylie, Lily, Freddy, Aubri, Naylee, Deysi, Abby and Tyler; great-grandson, Mateo; sisters, Bonnie Brown, Cindy (Stanley) Ziolkowski of Tama and Karen Pillars of Vinton; brothers, Danny (Jeannette VanAhsen), Larry (Deb) both of Belle Plaine, Jimmy (Debbie) of Ladora, Lester (Wanda) of Centerville and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Chrystal Swanson; grandson, Nicholas Swanson; brothers, Brenton, Roger, Carey, Leland, David and infant brother, Phillip Charles.

Celebration of Life is 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, IA with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, IA at a later date.
