Darlene Boriskey

Darlene Boriskey, 87, of Montour, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Bird House-Hospice Home of Johnson County in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Stephen Pudinski officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Darlene was born on March 6, 1932 in rural Montour, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Ray and Bernice (Stoner) Hempy.

She graduated from Montour High School in 1949.

On April 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joe W. Boriskey. Darlene was a homemaker and helped Joe on the farm. Darlene loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and always looked forward to holidays spent with her entire family. She enjoyed dancing her entire life, later earning the nickname “Dancing Darlene”. Darlene enjoyed playing cards and socializing with family and friends, baking, and time spent with her family at the cabin in Minnesota.

Survivors include three daughters, Jolene Cibula of Traer, Mary (Eugene) Cibula of Toledo, and Ann (Wayne) Neville of Tipton; six grandchildren, Joni, Tim, Jill, John, Katelyn and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joe on July 29, 2011; her son-in-law, Marvin Cibula; her siblings, Helen Slingluff, Robert Hempy, and Marian Downs.
