Theresa Ann Roberts

Theresa Ann Roberts, 69, of Tama, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at UnityPoint-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Saturday evening at Glenn Roberts’ Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Theresa was born on June 24, 1950, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest Roberts Sr. and Charlene Masquat.

Theresa grew up on the Meskwaki Settlement. She attended Haskell College in Lawrence, KS where she took nursing courses. Throughout her life she had lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa. She enjoyed going to the casino, cleaning, reading and playing dice with family and friends. Theresa adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling her family.

Survivors include her brothers: Ernest Roberts Jr. and Robin Roberts; adopted brother, Pete Wanatee; and adopted sister, Sheila Brown. Her children, Prince Wiley of OK, Charles Lynn Poafpybitty of Tama, IA, Troylynn Poafpybitty, Gaston Keahna III, and Thomasine Keahna all of Des Moines, IA; Her grandchildren: Tonshay Adams, Arianna & Nicholas Salazar, Nicholas & Paige Vasey, Arianna Poafpybitty, Leous Walker, Kyra & Matthew Vance, Julianna, Gaston IV, and DayeVaughn Keahna, Donovan Galvin, Talon Cronin, Irene & Rolando Keahna; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Emmett Roberts; and sister, Patricia Roberts.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
