Carolyn Jane (King) Brownfield, 75, of Tama, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Unity Point Health-Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Margaret Gunselman officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born on February 14, 1943, in Evanston, IL, the 3rd child of Rev. Clyde and Grace (Ungerer) King.
On July 16, 1960, she was united in marriage to Gary Ray Brownfield. Carolyn was the City Clerk of Toledo for thirty+ years and served on the National City Clerks Board for three years. Carolyn devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Gary of Tama; five children, Teresa (Wes) Reinhardt of Tama, Deb (Mark) Reser of Durango, CO, Sharon (Ed) McDermott of Lake of the Hills, IL, Gary (Yvonne) Brownfield of Blanchard, IA, and Phillip (Deanna) Brownfield of Shambaugh, IA; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, C.W. King of Chippewa Falls, WI; two sisters, Margaret Gunselman of Emporia, KS, and Phyllis Fick of Paton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial fund will be established- emorials will be used to place a bench in memory of Carolyn at the Tama Park.
