Minnie Libbie Patrick

Minnie Libbie Patrick, 93, formerly of Tama, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer under the care of Hospice Compassus. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will be private at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4-5 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Minnie was born on May 24, 1924, in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Therese (Macha) Braye.

In 1962, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Brees in Nebraska and two children were born to this union. They were later divorced. In 1984, Minnie was united in marriage to George Patrick in Jefferson, Iowa and they were later divorced. During World War II, she worked at an egg factory candling eggs. Later she provided in-home care for several local families. Minnie had a very compassionate and caring nature and helped care for many family members during their last days. She loved antiques and collected many items over the years, especially glass items.

Survivors include her son, Paul E. Brees Jr. of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Tracey (David) Berendes, Clayton (Andrea) Zednichek, Eric Brewer, and Tony Tompkins; and five great-grandchildren Amber, Marissa, and Haleigh Berendes, Julia, and Garrett Brewer.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Richard Braye; daughter, Sharon Newberg; seven brothers, Leonard, Freddie, Melvoy, Emil, Eddie, Johnny, and Stanley; and four sisters, Mabel Van De Woestyne, Rose Von Der Werth, Agnes Rutledge, and Anna Bliss.

A memorial fund has been established.
