Susan Carol Hopper

Susan Carol Hopper, 58, of Toledo and formerly of Marshalltown and Le Grand, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at her home due to natural causes. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church, 900 E. 5th St., Tama, Iowa with Pastor Kenny Mervin officiating. Private Interment will be held at a future date. Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1-3 PM prior to services at the church.

Susan was born on July 30, 1959, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Garland R. “Bud” and Betty Jean (Matthews) Hopper.

She graduated from South Tama High School in 1977. Susan worked at Lennox for eighteen years, several area restaurants, and most recently at the Meskwaki Casino Buffet. She was a valued attendee at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church and a 4-H member in her younger years. Susan was an avid collector and loved jewelry. Her favorite color was purple. Susan would help anyone in need and had a heart of gold.

Survivors include one daughter, Julia Welker of Nevada; one grandson, Elijah Welker of Nevada; her father, Bud Hopper of Sun City, AZ; siblings, Tim (Mo) Hopper of Salisbury, NC, Terry (Jeannie) Hopper of East Dubuque, IL, Rick (Jodi) Hopper of Toledo, and Sandy (Donavon) Kleine of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean in 1982; and one nephew, Tommy Hopper in 1990.

A memorial fund has been established.
