Delmar Verle Maxwell

Delmar Verle Maxwell was born in Greenfield, Iowa September 21, 1951 and died in West Des Moines on February 11, 2018 at the age of 66.

He was born to Delmar Keith Maxwell and Ruby Dora Sieldelmann Maxwell and grew up on a farm near Hanging Rock in Redfield, graduating from Dexfield High School in 1969. He earned a degree at Iowa State University and was an avid Cyclone fan till the end.

He coached and taught FFA at South Tama, Panorama, and Carroll High Schools.

Del married Deborah Rucker Maxwell on April 2, 1977. He enjoyed fishing, raccoon hunting, playing bridge, and following his daughter and granddaughters’ activities.

Survivors include his wife, Deb Maxwell of West Des Moines; daughter Jan (Abel) Zeleke of West Des Moines and granddaughters Jazzy, Zana, and Maya Zeleke; sister Kay Maxwell Gines of Ann Arbor, MI; and many extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents Delmar “Keith” and Ruby Maxwell and his brother Albert “Mac” Maxwell.
