Demetrius Johnson, age 36, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Tama, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2016, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 24, 1979, to Imogene Roberts Haskin. Demetrius was known as Denny when he was young and his Meskwaki name was Kakakia. He was a member of the Wolf clan. He was a husband and father, who loved his children and was so very proud of them all. He will be remembered for his laughter, his smile, and for the way he enjoyed sharing stories with his family and friends. In addition to spending time with his family, he also loved football especially his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. He was preceded in death by his mother Imogene Haskin, sister Deanna Johnson, brother Jeremy Ramon Johnson, and maternal grandmother Eunice Edna Roberts. Survivors include his wife Alison Johnson; children Devon, Desmond, and Nevaeh Spotted Warbonnet of Rosebud, South Dakota; children Demetrius Johnson II, Jermetrius Jesse Joseph Johnson, of Denver, Colorado; and stepchildren Efrain, Autumn, and Carlysia Martinez-Mercado; and Alysha (Rudy) Bernard; granddaughter Rheaunna; as well as his siblings Daniel Dean Haskin and David Dean Haskin; nieces and nephews Isabelle Marie Chavez, Dejia Cherie Chavez, Julian Arron Chavez, Nakia Sinae Chavez, Kealan James; aunt Nora Roberts Chavez; cousins and extended family. Wake services were held at the Denver Indian Center in Denver, Colorado, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
