Born Thelma Reinig on January 22, 1927, to Ralph and Kaleta Reinig of Toledo, Iowa, she graduated from high school in 1943, then was married to Lyle W. Lage, on October 6, 1946. She lived most of her married life in the Gladbrook community, but created a new community of friends when they wintered in the Florida Keys during retirement. Not only was she a faithful partner in the farming and family business, she also was mother to three daughters, Leanna, Dot, and Lori.

As a faithful member of Lincoln Salem Church, she was very involved in the music and Sunday School programs for many years, as well as serving as an elder on the Church Board. She was also an active member of Living Branches and Volunteers. Lyle and Thelma were also very generous of their time and efforts in the upkeep and improvement of the church. She often spent time singing and visiting at local nursing homes. Her heart was filled each morning as she spent time in God’s Word.

Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and sewing, fishing with her husband and friends, playing cards and doing word puzzles, gardening and bird watching. She frequently demonstrated her compassion for others by sharing home made goods and assisting others in their times of need

Preceding her in death were her father and mother, sister Edith Moeller, and brother Melvin Reinig. Surviving Thelma are her beloved husband Lyle: daughters Leanna (Doug) Darnold, Gladbrook; Dot (Ruben) Nevarez, Poway, California; and Lori (David) Parker, Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren; Todd and Katie Darnold; Ryan and Ellie Nevarez; and Nathan and Brent Parker; and four great grandchildren.
