Deer Creek Pullers host pulling event at Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival

Who has the tougher lawn mower? That was the question that started it all. Bryce Dammann and Nohlen Peshel were debating this exact topic, and there’s only one way to find out the right answer: have a lawn mower pull.

Bryce, Nohlen, Nick Peshel, Sam Ferris, and Larry Werner are the men behind the pulling event that will be held at this year’s Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival. Officially called Deer Creek Pullers, this new outfit is set for their first event. On the old papermill property, lawn mowers and side-by-sides alike will battle it out after the parade on Saturday.

Citizens can show up just to watch the action, or if you are out and think that your lawn mower has a chance at the title, you can compete as well. Registration to see how much your machine can pull goes from 9 to 11 on Saturday morning, with the event starting at 11:30.

This is just the start; the Deer Creek Pullers plan on building this event bigger and bigger every year. Already, they have their next event on the books for June. To keep an eye on upcoming events and to see all rules and regulations, you can check out the Deer Creek Pullers Facebook page.

So, this Saturday, if you want to see the front wheels of a Cub Cadet rise or hear the engine of a John Deere roar, make sure to check out the Deer Creek Pullers. And like Nohlen and Bryce, if you think your lawn mower or side-by-side is tougher than the rest, take it on down, and do some pulling of your own.
