This week’s Toledo City Council meeting

Although he was late, he was still at the top of the agenda; Jim Roan gave an update on the bandstand project to the Toledo City Council. The project will hopefully be completed by June 1.

A temporary embargo on heavy vehicles was approved by the council due to the current detour.

A resolution was approved to transfer funds to pay for repairs at the Aquatic Center. This is to pay for the repairs to the fallen retaining wall and parking lot. The total cost came to around $37,000, with Toledo and Tama splitting the cost, Toledo paying approximately $18,000.

The resignation of Reinig Center Manager Kent Campbell was accepted.

The year-one wage increase for Toledo police officer Igor Diaz was approved.

The May 25 council meeting was approved to be rescheduled to Tuesday, May 26th, due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The public works department reported that the pool is almost done de-winterizing, and street projects are getting lined up. Clean up was held, and multiple refrigerators held rotten food, but they got through it.

The City Attorney reported that seven people are scheduled to go to court for parking tickets and that he’s working on nuisance properties.

Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between April 13 and 26, the department responded to 138 calls for service and effected 4 arrests. Of those arrests, one arrestee received 14 charges while another received felony counts. Two search warrants were executed, and Chief Quigley passed all his schooling.
