Danny’s first meeting as mayor
This week’s Tama City Council meeting
Danny Robinson’s smiling face was the first thing everyone saw when they went to this week’s Tama City Council meeting. Standing by the front door greeting everyone that entered, Mayor Robinson was excited to run his first council meeting. Working out the kinks, when Mayor Robinson stumbled, he joked that it’s his first day.
The biggest agenda item was the acceptance of the resignation of Tama PD Sgt. Jake Kessler effective immediately. The council went on to approve advertising to hire for the Police Sergeant position.
The council also appointed Ruth Hildahl as Interim EMS Administrator, while approving the EMS Administrator job description.
While on the subject of EMS, the council talked about transfers. They approved to keep going with the transfers.
The council changed around some board appointments and approved adding Mayor Robinson to all accounts.
The L Avenue and Business 30 rehab project was approved. Resolutions for the CMAR water plant project and the CMAR wastewater project were both approved.
The first quarter transfer of money for EMS was approved. Hydro testing for SCBA bottles was approved for the fire department, along with the purchase of some bunker gear.
The fire department reported about recent calls and work being done for the upcoming Lincoln Highway Days. The EMS Department gave a spreadsheet of expenditures to the council and talked about how much they spent on gas, among other things.
The public works department reported that grass is growing, and they hope to start patching streets soon. City Clerk Jill Apfel reported working on the budget.
The police department reported that Chief Jason Bina is still out due to medical leave after Sgt. Kessler’s resignation, leaving four officers working.
The council went into closed session due to possible litigation.
