Clarification: Dysart home to clinic, dentist

In the Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 story “‘Not personal’: Public health and home care budget takes center stage at supervisors meeting,” Tama County Public Health & Home Care Clinical Manager LeeAnna Kriegel was quoted by the newspaper as stating during the meeting: “We live in a county that does not have a hospital, does not have an urgent care. Right now, we have two clinics available to us in the entire county. One in Tama and one in Toledo. … We don’t have dentists anymore, we don’t have mental health. It’s not financially responsible for the larger hospitals to send people into our county to care for our people.” This is incorrect information. Dysart also has a medical clinic – Aspire Health and Wellness, as well as a dentist office – Pipho & Gingrich Family Dentistry; both are located in Tama County. Further, Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc. of Waterloo is in the process of opening a new, permanent satellite medical clinic in Traer in the former MercyOne building. Thank you to Dysart Mayor Tim Glenn and former Dysart Mayor Don Lyons for alerting the newspaper to the incorrect information shared by Kriegel during the supervisors meeting.
