From tear gas to the library

A range of topics at this week’s Tama City Council meeting

This week’s Tama City Council meeting began with talks about a water line. The new line will go from the west side of L Avenue to the DOT maintenance garage. It was approved to buy the hydrants and valves for the project, as well as getting with the city attorney on writing up an agreement with the DOT.

A 40 mm tear gas launcher for the Tama Police Department was approved. It was approved to go ahead and buy parts to repair the truck sander.

Public Works director Stuart Eisentrager made his department update, saying that as far as he knew, things were running good.

Kris Collins, director of the Tama Public Library, reported that the library received a check for $10,000 from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The money was received because the Tama library is a Carnegie Library, one of the over 1,600 libraries Andrew Carnegie funded between 1886 and 1917.
