Maker Space programming coming to a community near you
AREA – Looking for something for your kids to do on a no-school day? Join Tama County 4-H for Maker Space Programs in a community near you.
Tama County 4-H invites families to participate in its hands on Maker Space program, offered on upcoming no-school days in communities across the county. Designed for students in grades 2-6, these full-day sessions provide an engaging, educational environment where youth can design, build, explore, and create.
Thanks to support from the Iowa STEM ScaleUp Grant, the participation fee is $10 per student, with all materials included. Students must bring a sack lunch for the midday break.
Maker Space activities introduce youth to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) and creative concepts through guided, project-based experiences. Participants may work with building materials, simple circuits, robotics components, crafting tools, and design challenges that encourage curiosity, collaboration, and problem solving. Sessions are led by 4-H trained staff who support students as they experiment and bring their ideas to life.
Programs will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:
-Peace Church in Gladbrook– February 23
-Toledo Public Library — February 25
-Traer Public Library– March 2
-Garwin Community Shelter House — March 20
“Tama County 4H is committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities for youth,” Tama County Youth Coordinator Jenny Hulme shared. “Our Maker Space sessions give students a chance to explore new skills, work with peers, and discover the excitement of handson creation.”
Space is limited, and registration is required one week prior to the date.
