An ‘Act of God’ on the pipes
This week’s Tama City Council Meeting
This week’s Tama City Council meeting was run by Mayor Pro-tem Kristy Eisentrager as Tama Mayor Brian Hanus was absent. The meeting started with one resident’s passionate plea for their water bill to be minimized, as the reason for the bill’s high amount was that of an “act of god.” The line to the toilet in the empty house broke in this “act of god.” The council approved taking the sewer and penalty off the bill.
The council approved a lien waiver for 707 Grant St. The owner of the residence talked to the council via a translator that councilman Danny had on speaker phone. Council member Larry Thomas voted no. Mike Haughey was approved to be the Assistant EMS Director.
The council approved the reworded LOSAP resolution. Bruce Mann was approved to be a mower for summer help. His wage was raised by $0.50 to $17 an hour.
Jeremy Cremeans was approved to be a driver, and Ashley Kajer was approved to be a provider with Tama EMS. Prodigy Continuing Education was approved for online classes for Tama EMS. At a rate of $70 a person, the program will cost approximately $1,400 for the year, which is in the budget.
Pay requests four and five for the sewer generator were approved. An estimated $1,000 project to improve the lounge was approved. The council approved paying out 28.5 hours of unused vacation to Nick Peshel.
