This week’s Toledo City Council meeting
This week’s Toledo City Council meeting was rather quick starting with the approval of a temporary stop sign on Church and Grace for the STC Middle School.
Moving right along, the council approved eliminating the practice of reimbursing employees’ health deductibles.
And just like that, they were on to reports. Starting with Public Works, they reported that they’ve been doing a lot of work in the shop and on fire trucks.
It was also reported that the fire department had a long day over the weekend battling a house fire that was started by a wood burner. There was also a truck fire and a car accident.
Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between Jan. 12 and 25, the department responded to 76 calls for service and made a single arrest. One search warrant was executed as well. Chief Quigley also gave his annual full year report for 2025.
Last year, the Toledo Police department responded to 2,741 calls for service and affected 121 arrests that consisted of 251 charges. May had the largest call volume, Friday had the average largest call volume throughout the week, and 9 a.m. received the most calls throughout the day. There were staffing changes, rigorous training, and Officers Dickinson and Jefferson both were guest speakers at different conferences. It was also noted that after more than a year, in November, the department had reached full staff without any officer being in the academy.
Toledo Economic Development Director Katherine Ollendieck reported on the many things they are working on and the good interactions they are having with new Facebook posts.
