Postponed Project 60 sees great turnout

Despite postponing due to weather concerns the week before, Project 60 went off without a hitch. A staple in the community since the early 1980s, the free community meal is open to residents 60 years of age and over. The meal is prepared by STC food service and
High school student council sponsor Emily Chyma shared that in her time with the event, she’s never experienced postponing but was happy the event was still held.
During the event, the STC Dance Team opened the entertainment, performing for the first time at the event. The choir under direction of John Loos, performed some of their concert repertoire from earlier in the week.
The high school band closed out the pre-meal concert with music and jokes from director Mike Carnahan.
With 21 tables set up, 105 RSVP’d for the event and more attendees coming on the day of the event.

High school principal Ben Adams said, “Despite the weather last week, it’s really great to see everyone come out and enjoy the event. Postponing wasn’t our first choice but it felt like the responsible thing to do. We’re glad turn out is as high as it is, regardless.”
