Last Week Tonight: Last Week’s Toledo City Council meeting

Last week’s Toledo City Council meeting started with the approval of a resolution for more stop signs. This time, the stop signs will be placed on Church Street facing North and South.

The council approved entering into a continued 5-year lease agreement with GigFire from 2025 to 2030. The council approved the 28E agreement with Tama County for the bandstand.

The council approved LOSAP funding for Toledo Fire and EMS.

The public works department reported getting ready for the snow. The Jolly Lights light show is set up. The final piece of playground equipment was installed.

City Attorney Michael Marquess reported that the city is finished with all of the litigation related to former Police Officer Kyle Howe. The attorney also told of his concerns over the future of the old middle school.

Katherine Ollendieck, the head of Toledo Economic Development, reported on all her many projects.

Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between Nov. 10 and 23, there were 94 calls for service and four arrests.

EMS introduced Heather Skinner as the new paramedic.
