Hometown Holidays among other events fill the weekend with cheer
Tama-Toledo is gearing up for a full weekend of holiday festivities, beginning Friday, November 21, and continuing through Sunday, November 23. From turkey giveaways and craft events to parades, movies, and breakfasts, the weekend is filled with activities for all ages.
Friday, November 21 – Turkey Giveaway
Iowa Premium Beef Turkey Giveaway
Iowa Premium Beef will kick off the weekend on Friday, November 21, with its annual turkey distribution beginning at 2 p.m. in the south parking lot at Tama City Hall. Turkeys will be handed out until gone.
Saturday, November 22 – Full Day of Family Activities
Visit With Santa – Tama/Toledo Country Club
Families are invited to the Tama/Toledo Country Club from 9 a.m. to noon for the annual Visit with Santa. Children will receive a cookie or donut and a drink, and horse-and-carriage rides will be available. A holiday bake sale will support the Ladies’ Golf program and future clubhouse updates. Donations of baked goods or handmade items are welcome.
Make & Take Christmas Ornaments – Toledo Public Library
The Toledo Public Library will host its Make & Take Christmas Ornaments event from 9 a.m. to noon, offering kids a creative start to the holiday season.
Hardon’s Outdoor Holiday Kickoff Event – Downtown Tama
Hardon’s Outdoor will celebrate the season with a special Holiday Kickoff Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 116 W. 4th Street in downtown Tama. Christmas doorbuster deals, free smoked-food samples, holiday meal tips and tools, and kitchen and grilling gifts for everyone.
Hometown Holiday Vendor Fair – STC High School Holiday shoppers can browse local vendors at the Hometown Holiday Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Tama County High School. The event is sponsored by STC After Prom 2026.
Ross Street Roasting Holiday Open House
Ross Street Roasting Co. will welcome the community to an open house in Tama on Saturday at 202 Harmon St. in Tama, featuring coffee, snacks, giveaways, and more! 8 a.m. to noon.
Free Showing of Elf
A free community showing of the holiday classic Elf will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 22. The movie is sponsored by S&S Car Wash and Storage.
Tama-Toledo Lighted Holiday Parade
The annual Lighted Holiday Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Toledo. No preregistration is required; lineup starts at the old middle school.
Jolly Lights at the Heights – Opening Night
Following the parade, visitors can head to Toledo Heights Park for the opening night of Jolly Lights at the Heights. The drive-thru light display runs 6-9 p.m. Admission is $5 per car, with donations welcome.
Sunday, November 23 – Country Club Holiday Breakfast
The Tama/Toledo Country Club will host its annual holiday breakfast on Sunday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to noon. Breakfast is $10 per person, with children five and under admitted for $5. The menu includes breakfast lasagna, fruit, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and beverages. Baked goods will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting Ladies’ Golf and future clubhouse improvements.
Last year’s breakfast welcomed 73 guests, and organizers hope to reach 100 attendees this year.
