The newly renovated Toledo Bandstand got its first test with rain at its dedication Saturday morning. As the gathered crowd of both locals and officials stood around in the drizzle, Cat Campbell Currier, the emcee, and the Tri County Community Band stayed dry under the stand’s new roof. The band both started the ceremony and inaugurated the bandstand by playing the National Anthem. Local Gary Karkosh then stood on the bandstand to give a prayer.

Jim Roan, the driving force behind the bandstand project, gave a speech thanking everyone who played a part. Jim took a particular moment to thank Tim Dunn and his family. Tim Dunn also got the honor of cutting the official ribbon.

After the ribbon was cut, the Tri-County Community Band went on to play another rousing piece, “Independentia” by R.B. Hall. When the ceremony had concluded, all were invited back to the Toledo Economic Development Office for refreshments.

With a new face and a new roof, the Toledo Bandstand can now be enjoyed for generations more. So, those who remember climbing on the structure as children and seeing great musical acts jam out in the middle of it, can have their kids, and their kids’ kids have the same memories.
