This week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting started with the making of a puddle on the meeting room floor. As Supervisor Curt Hilmer attempted to open his morning Dr Pepper, the pop foamed, overflowed the top, and dripped down onto the tile. After Hilmer was done cleaning his mess, and everyone arrived, the meeting began.
Tama County Engineer Ben Daleske reported that they are ditch-digging near 260th Street and C Avenue, and they are also cutting berms and regraveling near H Avenue south of 370th Street. They are ditch cleaning and removing some berms along V Avenue, North of 115th Street. Work on the E43/ Duponda project progressed as pavement was placed on Friday, and they are now waiting for the gravel shoulder work and guardrail to finish. PCI is on S Avenue and is working on getting the deck formed over the next few weeks.
The Eastern Iowa Workforce Development Area Shared Liability Agreement was approved pending the county attorney’s approval.
The Sheriff’s Quarterly report was approved.
The supervisors authorized the chairman to sign Dallyn Hotchkiss-McEltree’s ABMDI Recertification documents.
The supervisors approved including live bidding in the County Farm bidding process.
By a 3-2 vote, the supervisors approved the Zoning Administrator’s statement for the Board of Adjustment hearing on Oct. 14 concerning Salt Creek Wind 2’s conditional use permit. It was explained that the statement was to give a neutral direction to the Board of Adjustment and is a preventative measure against any lawsuit, as the current zoning administrator has spoken out publicly against wind turbines on multiple occasions. Supervisors Hilmer and Curt Kupka voted no.
The 9:30 public hearing to update Zoning Ordinance Fees in the Tama County Zoning Ordinance of July 7, 1998, was held without comment. The supervisors then waived the other readings and approved updating the Zoning Ordinance Fees.
Claims totaling $204,039.36 were approved.
