Election 2025: A complete list of candidates in the News Chronicle coverage area
With the filing deadline now passed and the city and school election season in full swing, here is a complete list of the candidates on the ballot within the Tama-Toledo News Chronicle coverage area, according to the Tama County Auditor’s Office.
STC school board
Angela Bair is challenging incumbent and current Board President Elizabeth Dolezal in District 1. Incumbent Joe Hanus is the lone candidate in the District 2 race to fill a vacancy, and no candidate has filed to run for the District 4 seat currently held by Beth Wiese.
Tama city council
A total of two seats are up for election to the council, and incumbent Kristy Eisentrager along with newcomers Elaina Rivera-Martinez and Chris Smith have all filed paperwork to run.
Toledo mayor and city council
Incumbent Mayor Brian Sokol is seeking another term in office, and with three council seats up for grabs, incumbents Duane Pansegrau and Cathy Cook are running for re-election along with Doug Ray, who previously served as the mayor of Tama.
Chelsea mayor and city council
No candidates filed to run for the mayor vacancy, and incumbent Amy Walters was the lone candidate to file for one of the two council seats available.
Elberon mayor and city council
Incumbent Mayor Scott Pippert is seeking re-election, and Rynonda Franzen, Adam Glunz and Judy Upah are running for three available council seats.
Montour city council
Incumbent Ron Green was the lone candidate to file for one of the three city council vacancies in Montour.
Vining mayor and council
No candidates have filed to run for either mayor or any of the five city council vacancies in Vining, Tama County’s smallest incorporated community.
Iowa Valley Community College Board of Directors
Incumbent Joanna Hofer of Tama, the current board president, is the lone candidate to file paperwork for the IVCCD District 6 director seat. She has held office since 2017.
