Supervisors OK speed limit reduction, set public hearings on zoning fees

The Tama County Administration Building at 104 W State St. in Toledo will be closed to public until further notice.

Before the marathon discussion and eventual split vote on Salt Creek Wind Phase II, which ran for well over fours, the Tama County Board of Supervisors approved a small list of relatively routine items during Monday morning’s regular meeting.

The board voted unanimously to reduce the speed limit to 35 miles per hour on K Avenue between Highway E43 (Duponda) and 310th Street (Ross Street) near Toledo with the note to rescind the reduction once the construction project on Highway E43 is completed and approved a position change for Chad Bartling, who will fill the Traer motor grader position with secondary roads.

Adam Todd of Tama submitted a written comment commending County Engineer Ben Daleske and his crews for listening to public feedback and working to improve conditions on rural roads, and Daleske told the board that rocking efforts are ongoing.

The board also set public hearings for Oct. 6, 13 and 20 at 9 a.m. to update zoning ordinance fees per the recommendations of the Zoning Board. Before the lunch recess, claims totaling $196,139.89 were approved.
