The hallway nap

This week’s Tama County Supervisors Meeting

As the morning dew reflected the bright, new day sunlight shining overhead, only a couple of regulars decided to show up for this week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting, making it a sparse crowd. The meeting was punctuated by an approximately hour-long closed session where those few in attendance were cast out of the room. As this reporter fell asleep for a few moments in the hallway, the supervisors discussed their business and came back with a motion. They approved a motion to direct counsel to send to the counsel of Salt Creek Wind 2 the revised settlement agreement, the old road use agreement, and the old decommissioning plan. They then set a public hearing for Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. for the development agreement with Salt Creek Wind 2.

Ben Daleske, the Tama County Engineer, gave his report saying that the intersection of F Avenue and 280th Street has been finished and is now open. They have finished the bridge on H Avenue just north of E69, but the road will still be closed, though as they work on the ditches. They will also be using the retriever and rocking 370th between I Ave and Highway 63. They’ve been working diligently on washouts recently as well. Pavement markings have been painted, and with the flood waters receding, they are working on getting Long Point opened up again.

The supervisors approved the final plans for the 300th Street bridge project.

Brian Sparks was approved to be hired for the Motor Grader Operator position in Dinsdale, starting on the 18th. A temporary liquor license for the Traveling Tapster was approved.

The Monday, Sept. 1, meeting was rescheduled to Tuesday, Sept. 2, due to the Labor Day holiday.

Claims totaling $373,553.78 were approved.
