Elberon Legion Auxiliary holds July meeting

ELBERON — The Elberon American Legion Auxiliary Unit 226 met July 10. The meeting was opened with the advancement of colors by Sgt-At-Arms, Marce Nekola who also gave an opening prayer. The “Vacant Chair,” Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion

Auxiliary were recited by the members.

Roll call was given by secretary, Norma Riha and the minutes of the June meeting were read. A financial report was read. Old business included the Tama County Legion and Auxiliary meeting held June 24 in Tama. A 6 p.m. potluck meal was enjoyed followed by the disposal of flags. A joint meeting was held with 19 present.

New business was the Iowa Veterans Home picnic to be held on Aug. 2. Elberon is to furnish tomatoes and cucumbers which Riha offered to buy from the Vining Market. Lorraine and Marce will each make a pie.

Door prize was won by Nekola and she served lunch.
