Fun at the 48th annual Double D Rodeo
PHOTOS BY THE RIP ROARIN’ DAVIS DUO AND RHONDA JAMES – Smack dab in the middle of Tama County was the place to be over the last weekend as the 48th annual Double D Rodeo in rural Toledo offered a wide range of entertainment for participants both young and older. All in all, the popular event went off without much of a hitch, though rider Shay Purdy was injured on Saturday — according to the Double D Facebook page, however, he is “doing just fine” after suffering a concussion and a laceration in his neck. No stitches were needed. One other newsworthy note is that Dennis Dostal was unable to drive his team and stagecoach through the grand entry after suffering a stroke, so the team at Circle C Carriages jumped in and picked up the slack.
