The Supervisors: A meeting in two acts
Board moves forward with Salt Creek settlement after lengthy closed session
Monday’s usual showing of the county supervisors went on like usual, with this week’s production adding a nice little hour and some long intermission for a closed session. The viewers mulled about in the hallway discussing what had happened so far in the show and proposing theories as to what was to occur in the second act.
The opening act, like usual, was Ben Daleske, Tama County Engineer. They’ve been working on the intersection of F Avenue and 280th Street, and weather permitting, they will be finished this week. They are working on a bridge on H Avenue just north of E69. Depending on the weather, they will continue work and start to place back the beams and decking. They have been out rocking and grading roads. Last week, they rocked 290th Street west of Highway 63. This week, they will have a truck take care of some edge ruts. There were 11 applicants for the motorgrader in Dinsdale, and they’ve been conducting interviews.
After approving all listed below, the supervisors went into a closed session regarding Salt Creek vs Tama County, with the possibility to approve an undisclosed resolution listed on the agenda. After coming out of the closed session, the supervisors approved for their lawyers to “Forward the changes discussed for a settlement and resolution agreements to Salt Creek.”
Four separate utility permits were approved by the supervisors. The supervisors approved the certified levies/tax rates for publication. The supervisors approved the Treasurer’s semi-annual report.
The supervisors approved the Veterans Affairs’ quarterly report. The supervisors approved entering into a settlement agreement with Rubris and Sandoz for opioid litigation. The supervisors approved an Equal Employment Opportunity and Harassment policy.
The supervisors approved the joint defense agreement regarding Wise vs Tama County. Claims totaling $927,876 were approved.
Curtain falls.
