Tama County Historical Society Museum.
TAMA — There will again NOT be a July program at the Wieting Theater due to the upcoming July play.
The Tama County Historical Society is presenting a self-guided tour to St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery from July 2 – July 16 for the July 2025 program.
The program includes a map with numbers that corresponds with the subjects featured in the program. Each of the subject’s grave will have a numbered pink flag set up in somewhat of a counter clockwise circle. The graves featured are in the center middle section on both sides of the south paved drive.
Visitors to this cemetery, on the border of Tama and Toledo on South Church Street, will learn about some of the individuals buried there who made their mark on Tama and Toledo history.
Handouts including a brief history of each person and a history of the cemetery will be available for pickup at the Tama County Historical Society from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on July 2, and July 3 as well as on July 9 and July 10.
Copies are also available at the Tama Public Library and the Toledo Public Library during the regular hours starting July 3 in the afternoon.
There will be copies available for members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at the church.
People can also download a digital copy available now on www.tamacountyhistory.org.
This program is researched and organized by Joan Hayward Helm with special thanks to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Father Michael McAndrew, Lisandra Ordaz and to Dan and Micki Ferriss who helped Hayward Helm locating graves and other information.
