On Tuesday, June 24, both the Tama and Toledo Fire Departments responded to a punctured gas main on the 300 block of East 3rd Street in Tama. “Toledo Fire responded to mutual aid with Tama Fire to a gas leak in front of Warners grain elevator, a contractor doing correctional boring or through an unmarked gas main Toledo Fire helped shut down Traffic in the area,” stated Toledo Fire Chief Kendall Jordan.
The Tama Fire Department evacuated several blocks, which included a couple of daycares and multiple residences. “Everybody responded well,” Tama Fire Chief Richard Jiminez said. “They were able to get in their cars and leave the area. And the Fire Departments blocked off the roads so that no one could enter the area.”
